Prior to your installation date, please empty all closets receiving flooring, remove all items from under beds, and remove bed coverings and any small furniture that you can move. Also, please remove pictures on the walls, including wall hangings, fragile lamps, knickknacks, glassware, and books from bookcases and small breakables from China cabinets, curio or hutches.

Alternatively, for an extra cost, you can elect to have our affiliate professional moving company come out prior to our arrival and move all of the furniture out of the house and into garage or POD (client must provide). The moving company will return when our scope is completed to move all of the contents back into place.

Solid wood floors whether unfinished or pre-finished, require up to 1 week acclimation in your living space. Be sure that while this process is taking place, you have the room temperature set between 59° to 68°F with a relative humidity of 50-60% and all windows are closed.

We always refer to the installation instructions to find the acclimation hours, room temperature, and relative humidity recommendation specific to your flooring brand. Most engineered floors do not need to acclimate; they can be installed the same day, but occasionally require 48 to 72 hours.

For refinishing projects, we will use an Airsled, when necessary, to prevent scuffing your new hardwood finish so you are able to have your appliances back without having to wait.

Our installers can remove gas appliances, disconnect water lines on refrigerators and remove toilets, but we highly recommend that a license plumber and gas company reinstall them. 

Some types of flooring may be able to be put over previous ones. Most flooring manufacturers, however, advise removing the old floor first. Because there could be a concealed problem with the subfloor, this is a good option. Also, the new flooring may raise the floor too much, causing issues with doors opening and closing. Existing floor removal costs vary depending on the type of existing floor. A tile floor, for example, costs $1.48 to $3.19 per square foot to remove.

Like with any home project, there are possible additional costs that could cause the bill to be higher. For instance, if the subfloor is in poor condition and needs repair or replacement, this will be an additional fee. However, in some cases, you may not need these services.
